One of the cool things about WordCamps is they are organized and put on entirely by volunteers, and everyone participates by contributing what they can. It takes a lot of people to make a WordCamp happen, and volunteers are who make it possible.  Can you feel the love?

Being a volunteer is a great way of giving back to the WordPress community, and meeting a lot of great people that normally you might not have had a chance to talk to. Not to mention some behind the scenes fun.

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, organized, energetic, and who love WordPress or just being awesome.

What Do We Need Help With?

Volunteers will be, meeting attendees, assisting with parking, helping out with speakers, registering and handing out Tshirts, monitoring classes and generally helping to make this a great event for everyone, yourself included!

When do we need it?

We will need volunteers as the event gets closer and primarily for the days of the WordCamp, June 4-5.

What Should I Expect?

Plan to work one full day, for example:  If your monitoring a track, we will try to get you in your desired area of interest.  If helping with swag, we may need you the day before.

Volunteers are expected to arrive early, usually about an hour before the events begin for that day.  If you wanna help out on friday or the days before, let us know in the application, most of the available slots however, are on the weekend.

Also, (notice how we’re sneaking this in here) there will be a very cool volunteer appreciation party the week before.  Sort of a meet and greet so we get to know each other, hang out, play some corn hole, eat dinner… you get it.  Bring your light sabers it may get a little crazy.

How much are my tickets?

Your ticket for the weekend will be half price, $20.  Once you have been registered as an official volunteer we will send you a special code to purchase your ticket.

Great! How do I sign up?

Review the information below, be sure to read the code of conduct, fill in the form below all that and we’ll keep your posted.

Please review the below information BEFORE you sign up.

  • You will need to commit to at least one full day – June 3rd, 4th or 5th . Saturday the 4th is our busiest day and usually when we need the most help. Day preferences are available on the sign up form.
  • On the form, please pick the areas you would be interested in volunteering in but keep in mind that spot may not be available, so pick multiple areas.
  • Most of the help needed during the event involves setting up, registration, and session moderation.
  • You must check with your volunteer coordinator(s) upon arrival on your committed day. More information will be in the emails we’ll be sending to approved volunteers.
  • Read ourWordCamp Code of Conduct. By applying to volunteer you are agreeing to play by these guidelines!
  • Signing up below is great, but you will get an official email from WordCamp Asheville Team when you have been selected. Don’t show up on the day of the event saying you are a volunteer… we won’t have space for you!
  • Compensation – You will receive a 50% discount on your ticket, plus an invite to a fun volunteer pre-party the week before WordCamp. This is a fun evening where we’ll provide dinner and get to hang out and meet each other before the event.
